Justin Broadrick was a founding member of seminal thrashers Napalm Death. After leaving the band, he became a member of Head of David before forming and in 2002 disbanding Godflesh, the band that inspired thousands with its slow industrial metal filled with torturing feedback and low-pitched bass. He recorded under a variety of different names through a number of genres from distorted hip hop to cold ambient. He has remixed artists as diverse as Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Isis and the Lemonheads.

Jesu is his latest band, the true successor of Godflesh. A bit closer to the rock roots than the electronically influenced last Godflesh-albums, and arguably the most personal music Broadrick ever released. He performed all the instruments on the debut EP Heartache, and was joined by Ted Parsons on drums (ex-Swans, ex-Prong) and on the half of the tracks by Dermot Dalton on bass (Cable Regime, Final) for the recording of debut album Jesu.
